Upcoming Music Department Events

Jazz up the semester's end by visiting the Nell Moore Recital Hall on the UC campus.

Beginning with Tuesday, April 17, the University of the Cumberlands' Music Department offers opportunities to lift the spirit. The Cumberland Singers, directed by Dr. Jeff Smoak, present a variety of inspirational selections, including Greg Gilpin's "Jubilate (Sing Joyfully!)" and "Down to the River to Pray," from the motion picture "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

The Jazz Ensemble, directed by David Threlkeld, rounds out the experience with a concert on Tuesday, April 24. Featuring students Jamey Robinson, Patrick Dasher, B.J. Centers, Kaci Hina, Landon Owens, Josh Pollitt and Ashley Murray in various combinations, the 22 member group promises to energize the audience. "Sam's Boogie," "The Crescent City Stomp" and "The Chili Pepper That Got Away" are just a few of the enticing titles on the program.

Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and admission is free. For more information, contact the UC Music Department at 539-4332.
