Berube Receives Exercise and Sport Science Award

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - University of the Cumberlands student Alaina Berube was awarded the 2007 Exercise and Sport Science Award at the Honor’s Day convocation service held April 23.

Alaina, of Escanaba, Mich., is the daughter of James and Cheryl Berube. She is a double major in exercise science and public health and a minor in education. Berube has achieved a 3.4 GPA while successfully completing her public health internship at Marymount Hospital and the Laurel County Health Department.

During the past four years, she has had several successes. Berube has served as team captain of the women’s wrestling team at University of the Cumberlands. She has also ranked second on the national team in wrestling and placed second at the 2004 Olympic trials for wrestling.

Upon graduation Berube plans to attend graduate school and pursue a master’s degree in education.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in its 118th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields of study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, graduate degrees and certifications in education as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for adults.
