WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The University of the Cumberlands’ art department recently held a reception for Michael Joyce, whose works are currently on display in the J. M. Boswell Art Gallery, Room 220 in the Fred C. Andersen Memorial Building.

“The exhibit was like walking into another world- a world of pure fantasy that left you with a somewhat eerie feeling,” said Cumberlands freshman Kayla Fogle. “I would not have believed I was in the school's gallery if I hadn't walked in there myself.”

“You probably haven’t seen anything like this at Cumberlands in a long time,” said Joyce, an artist and adjunct professor at the University. “It’s like walking into a desert garden, and into your own private space at the same time.”

Joyce has participated in the Annual Juried Showcase at the Oak Ridge Museum of Fine Art, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. His works have also been shown in the Lowery Gallery in Danielsville and Watkinsville, Ga., and the Foyer Gallery in Athens, Ga.

The exhibit will remain in the gallery until February 1. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.
