Jennifer Belcher Awarded Outstanding Senior in Communication Arts

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.- University of the Cumberlands is proud to announce that Jennifer Belcher, of Hopkinsville, Ky., is the recipient of the Outstanding Senior in Communication Arts Award.

Belcher is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Belcher. She is working toward a major in Communication Arts and a minor in History.

During the Spring Semester of 2000, the Communication and Theatre Arts faculty unanimously voted to name the award for the Outstanding Senior in Communication Arts the Curtis S. Brown Award. Curtis Brown attended University of the Cumberlands from 1994 to 1998. He was an active member of the Individual Events Team, the Debate Team and Cumberlands Theatre. He was also a talented writer and musician. Curtis graduated from University of the Cumberlands in 1998 and was chosen as the Outstanding Senior in Communication Arts that year. He was working on his master’s degree in communication arts at Wichita State University when he passed away suddenly in the spring of 1999. This award is dedicated to the life and good works of Curtis Brown.

University of the Cumberlands, located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, is a private liberal arts college in it 119th year of operation. Cumberlands offers four undergraduate degrees in 37 major fields and study, 30 minors and nine pre-professional programs, graduate degrees and certificates in education as well as online and accelerated, nontraditional programs for adults.
