Dr. Bill Henard Receives Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Dr. Bill Henard, Senior Pastor of Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky., received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from University of the Cumberlands, on Sept. 15, during the first joint Convocation of the 2008-2009 school year. He then delivered a message on the importance of trusting God's plan.

Henard began serving as Senior Pastor of Porter Memorial Baptist Church in 1999, prior to which he served as Pastor to several different churches throughout the South, including churches in Alabama, Texas and Tennessee. Currently, Henard serves as President of the Kentucky Baptist Convention and First Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is also Assistant Professor of Evangelism and Church Growth at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

A graduate of University of the Cumberlands, Henard also holds degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
