Riley honored at University of the Cumberlands

Jay Bourne, assistant professor of communications, presents the A.T. Siler Memorial Award to Katie Riley.

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Katie Riley is the recipient of the 2009 A.T. Siler Memorial Award, given during the 50th annual Honors Day convocation at University of the Cumberlands on April 27. The award is named for an early trustee who served the school for more than fifty years, and each year the University presents it to a junior who has demonstrated outstanding community service.

Riley, junior communication arts major, is the wife of Tim Riley and the daughter of Rick and Joan Faison of Wilmington, Ohio. During her college career, Riley has served as a resident assistant, a tutor in the academic resource center and a campus STAR. A member of Pi Kappa Delta, a forensics (public speaking and debate) honor society, she is also an active member of the University’s speech and debate team. In March, she and her debate partner, Seth Stoffle, won the national debate championship at the Christian College Forensics Tournament at Biola University in Los Angeles, California.

Riley and her husband serve as Children’s ministers at Williamsburg’s Pleasant View Baptist Church.
