Cottingham honored at University of the Cumberlands |

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Cary Anne Cottingham received the Communication and Theatre Art Department’s 2010 Outstanding Senior in Theatre Arts Award. The award was received by Cottingham at the 51st annual Honors Day Convocation, on April 26, at University of the Cumberlands. She was also recognized for High Honor at the University. Cottingham graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre arts and a double minor in religion and Biblical languages. She was a member of Theta Alpha Kappa and Eta Beta Rho. Cottingham is the daughter of Ran and Maggie Cottingham of Chantilly, Va. Theta Alpha Kappa is a national religion honor society which seeks to encourage excellence in research, teaching and publication, and in the exchange of learning and thought among scholars. Requirements for membership are the completion of three semesters at the University, completion of at least 12 hours of religion coursework, a GPA of 3.5 in religion courses and a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Eta Beta Rho is a national Hebrew honor society dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievements in the study of Hebrew language and literature. Requirements for membership are the completion of three semesters at the University, completion of at least 12 hours of Hebrew coursework with a 3.0 GPA, and a standing within the top 35% of the class in general scholarship.
