Cumberland Receives $50k Donation for Center |
||
The center will provide programs and activities to enhance the development of leadership, character and good citizenship. One component is Cumberland’s Lecture Series. “Thanks to his philanthropic donation, we are going to establish a distinguished speaker’s program to bring household names in who share the core values of our institution,” Cumberland President Jim Taylor said. The University has benefited from noted speakers in its past including President Jimmy Carter and Oliver North. This new donation will help to continue the tradition of bringing in such speakers. First Corbin Financial Director of Business Development Chuck Rapier said, “Terry Forcht made the donation to the University because of his great admiration for the institution and because he wants to be part of what’s occurring down here. He also wants to be part of Dr. Taylor’s desire to enlarge and increase the knowledge of the students who attend Cumberland.” According to University officials, the speaker series will begin in the spring semester.
