CSC makes gift to University of the Cumberlands

Employees of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Mountain Outreach students look on as Gayle Troxell, CSC project site manager, presents a gift of $3000+, raised by the employees, to Marc Hensley, director of UC’s Mountain Outreach program, for the organization’s annual Gift Day to benefit local families.

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – On Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, employees of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in Williamsburg presented a gift of a little more than $3,000 to Marc Hensley, director of Mountain Outreach (MO), a student-led service organization of University of the Cumberlands. The money was used to purchase toys and gifts for the 197 families who were registered for MO’s annual Gift Day on Saturday, Dec. 11.

CSC employees raised the money for Gift Day through various fund-raisers, including bake sales and penny wars. “Our people wanted to do this for the children of Whitley County, and they worked hard to raise this money, but they had fun, too,” said Gayle Troxell, project site manager for CSC, Williamsburg.

“Gift Day would not be possible without donations like these,” Hensley said as he accepted the money from CSC employees, “and we can’t thank you enough.”

Mountain Outreach is a University of the Cumberlands construction ministry, with students and volunteers completing 135 homes and making repairs and renovations to hundreds more in the last 27 years. The organization has sponsored Gift Day for more than a decade, providing Christmas gifts for children of needy families in the area.

Inquiries about Gift Day and how individuals, businesses or churches might help in the future can be directed to the Mountain Outreach office at (800) 343-1609, extension 4346, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
