Cumberlands Student Erin White Receives Award for Excellence in Secondary Education

 


Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) undergraduate department of Education recognized Erin White (Williamsburg, Ky) for excellence in Secondary Education during the annual Honors Day ceremonies on April 25th, 2011 in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

White completed the requirements for graduation and certification in December and is now teaching high school English in the Laurel County school system.

While at UC, Erin achieved a 3.97 GPA, was inducted into the J. T. Vallandingham Scholastic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi and Sigma Tau Delta in addition to her placement on the Dean’s list every semester.

Erin was also inducted into the Who’s Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges. Who’s Who is open to juniors and seniors who have been selected by the faculty and staff. These students have excelled in one or more of the following areas: participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities; citizenship and service to the school and community; and potential for future achievement.

The Education department also recognizes students excelling in elementary, middle, and special education.
