William West Presented the Bella Bender-Lipps Art Award


Williamsburg, Ky. - On Monday April 25, University of the Cumberlands (UC) held their annual Honors Day Convocation. The program honors students, faculty and staff for their achievements during the academic school year. One of the honored students was William West (Whitley City, KY) who was presented the Bella Bender-Lipps Art Award.

This award is given in honor of Bella Bender- Lipps who is a great friend and supporter of visual art at UC. Every year this award is presented to an outstanding sophomore art major who exhibits the highest degree of talent and creative potential.

William, the son of Jerry and Denise West, was also recognized for High Honors which requires a minimum of 3.85 cumulative standing.

His future plans include teaching art at the high school level and completing his graduate degree.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
