Cumberlands Presents Patrick Ball with Munro Memorial Prize

 


Patrick Ball earned the George S. Munro Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies during commencement exercises at University of the Cumberlands

Williamsburg, Ky. – During commencement exercises at University of the Cumberlands, the George S. Munro Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies was awarded to Patrick Ball, son of Vernon and Teresa Ball of Wallins Creek, Harlan County, KY.

The George S. Munro Memorial Prize in Pre-Medical Studies is awarded in honor of George S. Munro, a pastor and long-time board member at University of the Cumberlands by his son, Dr. Roger Munro, and his daughter-in-law, Nancy K. Munro. Dr. and Mrs. Munro give this award to the graduating senior pre-medical student who has achieved the highest grade point average through his or her college career in recognition of academic excellence and effort.

Patrick, who was graduated with a major in biology with restricted electives, has been accepted to Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine and plans to return to Harlan County to practice medicine upon completion.

Patrick has not only excelled in the classroom but has served as an example to help others. While maintaining his high GPA he has been a member of Beta Beta Beta, the Biology Honor Society, and the Student Government Association.

Undoubtedly Patrick’s willingness and commitment to serving others will extend into his professional life.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
