About Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM)

The largest student organization on campus, the Baptist Campus MInistry (BCM) is open to anyone who wants to participate. Through the activities of the BCM, students can develop and deepen friendships, assist and learn from their peers, and share their talents and skills in Christian service.

Each year, the Cumberland College chapter of the BCM joins with others from around the state to participate in FOCUS, the CrossSeekers Retreat, and the Leadership Training Conference.

Weekly ministry groups, divided into nine families, allow students to work with small groups in areas of particular interest to them. Browse the descriptions below and you’re sure to find a group that piques your interest. Groups meet on Thursdays, 8:00-9:00 PM.

WEEKLY FAMILY GROUPS

Missions Ministry—Members of this group plan short-term mission projects, fundraisers, and work with Women on Mission.

Spiritual Growth—Participants minister through attending and leading weekly Bible studies and serving with the campus prayer ministry. Members seek personal spiritual growth through discipleship groups.

Media Ministry—Members of this group share their technical skills by operating sound and video equipment and assisting with PowerPoint presentations for campus functions.

Music Ministry—Area churches and organizations often contact Cumberland College for musical groups that can provide entertainment with a spiritual focus. The BCM Music Ministry’s performance groups help fulfill those requests. Students are invited to audition for the men’s ensemble, Sacred Vision; the women’s ensemble, Reflections; or the mixed ensemble, One Voice. No auditions are required for the Gospel Choir, which is open to anyone who simply loves to sing.

Performance Ministry—This group fulfills its mission by organizing weekend revival teams, focusing on creative ministries on campus and in local churches, and by teaching with entertainment through the BCM Praise Band and the Sidewalk Chalk Drama Team. Members of the band and drama team are selected by audition.

Service Ministry—This group cooperates with other ministries, working with local children through Appalachian Ministries, and building and repairing homes through Mountain Outreach and C.H.O.S.E.N., a ministry of Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children.

Sports Ministry—Members of this group coordinate sports ministries and work with Intramural Athletics.

Inreach—This group focuses on instructional sessions and activities for students interested in developing servant-leader skills.

Outreach—Students in the Outreach Family participate in activities and sessions intended to develop the skills of those who want to minister to the campus at large.
