Once again, time is flying.. Thanksgiving break is just two weeks away! Campus Ministries’ latest adventure took us to Cave City, KY. Halloween weekend 29 international and American students from University of the Cumberlands attended the ENGAGE International Student Conference. ENGAGE gave international students studying in Kentucky universities the opportunity to learn more about other cultures while sharing their own story. Highlights included pumpkin carving (which many students had never experienced before) as well as swing dancing, international fashion show, and a cultural dance. Although the language barrier sometimes kept us from completely understanding one another, all nations smile and dance in the same language. This conference was an amazing way to get to know students who are thousands of miles away from home, and to share the Gospel through actions, which was a totally new concept to many of them. If you want to get involved, don’t wait until next year’s ENGAGE conference! Email Dean Whitaker about how you can get involved with international students on campus.

This semester is just flying by, it seems like we blinked and Fall Break is over. God is still doing POWERFUL things on our campus! After our BCM kick-off involving a massive slip and slide, free coffee drinks, and jell-o wrestling, we began our weekly Freshman Fire Bible study and FUSE worship. Congratulations to our five students who gave their lives to Christ at our first FUSE and one student at Fall Awakening! Mountain Outreach, and Appalachian Ministries have also started up, along with FCA beginning their Gatorade ministry last week. Students have a wide variety of ministries to become involved in on our campus. For more information about how you can become involved, see the individual ministry pages.
A great group of students got the opportunity to go to FOCUS, Kentucky’s statewide BCM retreat at Jonathan Creek camp. At this retreat students FOCUSed on their relationship with God through quiet time, group worship and different sessions while also having a great time getting to know people from other schools as well as their own (as seen in the above picture).
The next major event is the ENGAGE conference for international students studying in Kentucky universities. This conference gives students the chance to share their culture while learning about other cultures. ENGAGE 2009 is October 30 – November 1 in Cave City, KY.
Keep checking back for updated information about UC’s Campus Ministries, we’re in the process of getting everything up-to-date!

Tonight at Spring Renewal Worship, 7 students took a stand to receive Christ as Savior, seeking to follow Him with their lives, while about 30 more students prayed and took a stand before their peers to walk more obediently with Christ. It was humbling and encouraging to watch God work in the lives of students who were willing to publically profess Christ, receiving his forgiveness for sin and entering into a new relationship with God through Jesus! It was wonderful to watch God remove the pain of guilt and burden from the faces, hearts, minds and spirits of students who are now being made new! There is NOW no more condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! The promise from God's word that "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away; Behold! All things are become new!" was illustrated tangibly in these students!
Plan to attend Spring Renewal Tuesday and Wednesday evenings beginning at 7:30 PM with a $20 Challenge followed by worship. Also, plan to attend Convocation on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM. You will both be blessed and be a blessing to others as you worship God in community with others who are seeking to know and grow in Christ!
