UCTV-19 is home to several shows that air each week. Each show is produced by the students, for the students!
19News is a half hour news program that airs live three times a week. This program is structured as close to a professional news program as possible, and features student producers, anchors, reporters and technicians. Students are responsible for writing copy, filming and editing b-roll, as well as going out and getting their own stories. Topics range from international and national news, to campus and community activity throughout the semester. Each newscast also features an interview with a student, faculty, staff or otherwise involved member of the Cumberlands community. Students are encouraged to get involved and gain experience on all levels of production.
Figure Four Fallout
Figure Four Fallout is a perfect example of student interest television. During Fall of 2010, two dedicated wrestling fans pitched a wrestling themed talk show for UCTV-19, and proceeded to produce, organize and anchor it themselves. “Charming” Russell Cage and the “Mad Man” Joey Moore began their show at a half hour in length, and moved it to an hour long in the Spring of 2011. Featuring recaps of wrestling programming like WWE RAW, TNA Impact, and the newly introduced Ring of Honor, Figure Four Fallout also features discussion of breaking wrestling news, predictions and more.
Entertainment – 19, shortened to E-19 in the Spring of 2010, is one of UCTV-19 ‘s longest running shows. E-19 focuses on celebrity news and gossip, movie reviews and lifestyle elements like cooking segments, clever crafts for college students and other tidbits of ‘need to know’ information. In the last year, it has been revitalized by energized student producers and anchors, as well as shifting from a taped show to a live one.
