Normal and abnormal cell function will be reviewed, using a variety of common cancers(cervical, breast, lung, colon) as model disease states. Topics to be covered include protein trafficking, cell cycle, cell migration and metastatsis, oncogenes, growth factors and carcinogens. Three lecture and three laboratory hours per week. Prerequisites: BIOL 113, 114, 133, 134, and CHEM 211 and 232. Strongly recommended: BIOL 445. Credit, 4 hours. Offered spring semesters, even years.
