Mission and Goals

The mission of the bachelor's in accounting degree program is to prepare students for positions of leadership in a variety of industries within the global marketplace.

A University of the Cumberlands accounting degree prepares graduates for potential careers in public and corporate accounting, tax planning and compliance, auditing, internal auditing/fraud examiner, information systems, management advising services, and government agencies such as the FBI, ATF and IRS. Students have access to the latest media, audio and data transmission technology, and are able to work with faculty who are actively involved in the business community as financial advisors, tax consultants, officers of professional organizations and members of corporate boards of directors. The University also provides accounting majors with opportunities to attend business presentations and gain practical work experience through corporate internships. Students are provided with a strong academic foundation in business, and are prepared to become productive, competent, and ethical professionals.

emphasizes cognitive and experiential learning, research (predominantly applied and pedagogical), along with opportunities for career preparation that encourages intellectual and spiritual growth, leadership and service.
