Mission & goals of the Bachelor's in Applied Physics degree program
The mission of the Physics department is to prepare physics majors for successful careers in physics, engineering, mathematics, and related fields. In particular, the bachelor's in applied physics degree program is committed to providing a solid foundation for those students seeking certification to teach high school physical science with physics emphasis. Integral to achieving these goals, applied physics degree students are provided opportunities to cultivate critical thinking skills, learn to apply physical principles, develop skills in experimental physics, and extend their mathematics prowess. As students develop these cognitive skills, the program also encourages bachelor's in applied physics students to recognize their professional and ethical responsibilities to society.
