Martin Luther King Day, January 17, our University has chosen to honor the legacy of Dr. King by sponsoring a campus-wide day of service.   

We invite you to participate in our MLK Day of Service!

Click the project registration link below the project name for more details and register for the site. Volunteers will be required to provide their own transportation to off-campus sites, not within walking distance.
These service projects will count toward student credit for UC Engage.

RECYCLING CENTER PROJECT:  Volunteers will be participating in recycling center clean-up and organizing. 2:00 PM- 4 PM

ORGANIZING FOOD DRIVE DONATIONS, FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF WILLIAMSBURGMonday, January 17
**WALKING DISTANCE FROM CAMPUS

10am - 12pm   12pm - 2pm   2pm - 4pm

WHITLEY COUNTY INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL- NOTES OF ENCOURAGEMENT & WINTER CLEAN: Volunteers will be cleaning desks, locker, water fountain areas, and door handles with sanitizing wipes.  Volunteers will then write notes of encouragement on post-it notes and leaving on desks and lockers. 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM
**STUDENT MUST DRIVE TO PROJECT SITE.

FOOD PANTRY, FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF WILLIAMSBURG:  Volunteers will be packing food bags for families to pick-up and helping as needed. 1:30 PM- 3:00 PM
**WALKING DISTANCE FROM CAMPUS

CORBIN BACKPACK PROGRAM: This program gathers every Monday night throughout the school year to pack lunches for needy children in Knox and Whitley counties. Approximately 900 backpacks are stuffed every Monday night.  5:45PM- 7:15PM

CUMBERLAND FALLS CLEAN-UP:  Volunteers will meet in front of the gift shop and visitor center at 2 PM. Park in the main parking lot to the falls and follow the sidewalk to the first building.

Picking up trash on trails, beach and overlook areas.  Students will need to wear closed toe shoes and bring drinking water. They will need to sign a volunteer form that will be available on site. 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM

GOD'S PANTRY & FOOD BANK WAREHOUSE: Volunteers will be sorting food and drink products into separate bins throughout the warehouse.  Social distancing will be observed. Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.  Mondays 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM

EMERGENCY CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES SHELTER, WILLIAMSBURG: The Williamsburg Homeless Shelter has been closed for a few months.  To reopen this much-needed facility, several tasks need to be completed.  Volunteers will assist with cleaning of the ECM and might assist with paint or other light renovation projects. Dress accordingly with clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes.

PROM CLOSET, WHITLEY COUNTY FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER: Volunteers will organize and straighten formal attire and general cleaning of the space preparing for Prom season in the spring.
