BIO

In addition to teaching at UC, Dr. Anita M. Pool, she also serves as the Chapter Faculty Advisor for the Chi Psi Omega chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counseling students.  Prior to becoming faculty at University of the Cumberlands, she was an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she taught multicultural counseling.  Dr. Pool is a National Certified Counselor and National Certified School Counselor with over 14 years of experience as a professional school counselor working with students in Pre-K through 8th grade. During her time as a professional school counselor, she served in several leadership positions and was named "Elementary Counselor of the Year" two consecutive years. She continues to work with young children as a part-time private practitioner. 

As a member of numerous professional organizations, Dr. Pool has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences on topics related to counseling.  Her research and presentation interests include the training and supervision of school counselors, school counselors' professional identity, issues related to counseling children and adolescents, and leadership in the counseling profession.  Additionally, Dr. Pool has a desire to contribute to the development of counseling worldwide due to her involvement with the International Association for Counselling and teaching experience in Malta. 

Dr. Pool resides in Lafayette, LA with her husband and five children.  During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints.
