Dr. William (B.J.) Temple joined the department of Health, Exercise and Sport Science (HESS), full time in 2015 after many years of service as adjunct faculty. Prior to joining the HESS full time, Dr. Temple spent fifteen years as the assistant track and field coach at the University of the Cumberlands.
Temple ended his 15 year coaching career as the longest assistant coach in any sport at UC. During this time he recruited and coached 89 NAIA All-Americans, 14 NAIA National Champions and numerous school records in his respected event areas. Temple was inducted into the UC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.
He currently holds certifications from USA Track and Field Level I and II in endurance and sprints, American Red Cross Certified Instructor for First Aid, CPR, and AED. As well as a certified DISC behavioral consultant.
