Bio

In addition to Dr. Hargis courses in Program Planning and Assessment at UC, she concurrently serves as an Administrative Consultant in the Office of Career and Technical Education and Student Transition in the Kentucky Department of Education.  In this role, she supervises 18 area technology center in central Kentucky including evaluation of the fiscal and instructional operations as well as evaluation of administration. 

During her educational career, she helped start the first Natural Gas Technology program for secondary students in Kentucky and has presented the initiative at both state and national venues.  She has also presented multiple times at the state and national levels regarding Kentucky initiatives including but not limited to Kentucky’s College and Career Readiness and Career Pathways.

Her research interests include career and technical education and creative partnerships to enhance student achievement.  She has worked with local districts and area technology centers to facilitate educational career academies and provides training on Problem Based Learning (PBL). She is a current member of the Association of Career and Technical Education.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family which includes her husband, two sons, and two daughters-in-law.  She and her family are very active in their church where her husband is the director of music, her older son is the associate pastor, and her younger son is a musician in the church band. She feels very blessed in her educational career and having the opportunity to work with the University of the Cumberlands.
