UC Book Club - Woman of Troublesome Creek

The UC Book Club will next discuss The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson on October 9, Wednesday, at 4 p.m. via Zoom.  This popular 2019 book has been listed as a bestseller by The New York Times, USA Today, The Los Angeles Times, PBS, and -- perhaps most compelling of all – comes recommended by Dolly Parton!  As historical fiction, the novel is based on the Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project as a WPA program of the 1930s and the blue Fugates of Kentucky.  The action follows Cussy Mary Carter in her fight to make books available to all.  In fact, books plus Appalachia – there is a lot for us to love here.

And coming up in November, date TBA, is Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt.  Don’t be surprised if your favorite character isn’t the octopus.
