UC ENGAGE

UC Engage seeks to align students with the mission of the university by fostering leadership through service and providing an education which nurtures critical and creative thinking in pursuit of a life more abundant. As a requirement for graduation all full-time students in the undergraduate program, with less than senior standing (90 semester hours), must enroll in UCEN 101-01 - UC Engage - for every semester of

*Students who meet one or more of the following criteria before the 15-week main-campus term begins may be exempt from participating in UC Engage:

  • Enrolled in Orientation 100
  • Senior standing (90 semester hours) before term begins
  • Students who are 25 years of age or older and/or have custody of dependents
  • Military Veterans or Active Service Members

Credit for UC ENGAGE is Pass/Fail with 0.50 academic credit hours available each semester. The grade received is factored into the student’s cumulative grade point average.

To receive a passing grade, students must attend one (1) UC ENGAGE designated lecture event and one (1) designated service event per semester.

Fall 2023 Engage Requirements 

  • Lecture Component: Opening Engage – Tuesday, August 29th @ 7pm | Rollins Center | Featuring Kevin Singleton
  • Service Component: SEASON OF SERVICE  
    Students must select, register, and serve on ONE project from the volunteer opportunities listed on the current semester’s Season of Service page. 

Spring 2024 Engage Requirements 

  • Lecture Component: Forcht Leadership Series Event – Tuesday, March 26, 2024 | Rollins Center | Featuring TBA
  • Service Component: SEASON OF SERVICE  
    Students must select, register, and serve on ONE project from the volunteer opportunities listed on the current semester’s Season of Service page. 

UC Engage Service Projects are offered on weekdays, weekends, and varying times on varying days- both mornings and afternoons throughout the semester. A list of projects can be located on the Season of Service Webpage

Students are only required to attend one UC Engage Service Event that will last no longer than two hours.  
All students who pass UC Engage (UCEN 101-01) will have two hours of community service added to their cumulative service hours credited toward graduation for the semester completed.
