University of the Cumberlands has added yet another business program to its list: an online Master of Science in Supply Chain Management.

Supply chain management encompasses all activities involved in the production and delivery of goods and services, including procurement, transportation, inventory management, and logistics. It enables businesses to optimize operations and reduce costs. By managing the flow of goods and services from suppliers to customers, companies can identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement, suppliers who offer better prices, and processes that can improve production – all of which leads to reduced costs and increased profitability.

Kentucky employs a diverse workforce in various supply chain fields, and the need for workforce education and development is increasing as the supply chain function expands throughout the region. What’s more, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment in the field of supply chain management is expected to grow faster than the national average for all occupations.

University of the Cumberlands’ new master’s degree program will prepare graduates to lead and manage complex supply-chain systems, drive innovation, effectively utilize technology, and create value for organizations and stakeholders. Course curricula will cover all essential topics from managerial skills to technical expertise to critical thinking and problem solving, ensuring students have a solid foundation in the field upon graduation. Classes on reporting systems, operation and production technologies, and sustainability, resilience, and risk analysis offer a well-rounded deep-dive into supply chain management, all while keeping students’ careers in mind and their needs in focus.
