Two graduate programs were recently recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list.

University of the Cumberlands’ Master of Arts in Education program and Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program were recently recognized in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of the nation’s best graduate programs.

Cumberlands’ Master of Arts in Education program ranked No. 6 in Kentucky and No. 234 nationally. The ranking marks the fourth time the program has received this recognition in recent years, underscoring its consistent quality and growing distinction. Earlier this year, in U.S. News’ Best Online Programs rankings, the education program tied with the University of Louisville for No. 4 in Kentucky and No. 127 nationwide.

Cumberlands’ Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies also performed well, ranking No. 3 in Kentucky and No. 202 nationally. The recognition marks the first year the program has been included in the U.S. News rankings for Physician Assistant programs. Inclusion on the list reflects improved student engagement, continued investment in a high-quality educational experience, and growing recognition on the national stage.

U.S. News evaluates programs based on several key criteria, including student engagement, faculty credentials/training, peer assessment, and available services and technology. Cumberlands’ featured programs stood out among hundreds reviewed nationwide, reflecting the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence and student success.

The Master of Arts in Education program gives students a strong foundation in essential concepts and skills such as communication, mentorship, and content mastery. This fully online degree program offers literacy, counseling, and leadership concentrations, opening doors to specialized career opportunities. The program ranges from 30 to 45 credit hours, depending on the chosen concentration.

The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program combines comprehensive coursework with clinical rotations to prepare students to improve health outcomes in their communities. The curriculum covers basic, behavioral, and preclinical sciences, totaling 113 credit hours. Despite its depth, students can complete the program in as little as 27 months. Physician Assistant students at Cumberlands have a strong record of achievement, with a 100% PANCE pass rate at both campus locations in recent years.
