Orientation To-Dos

Throughout the admissions and enrollment process, the University will require a variety of forms.

For the enrollment deposit, please use your Patriot Portal login information you used to apply. For anything else that requires login, please use your university account credentials. If you have not yet set up your university account password, click here.

As an international student, it is our goal to make sure you have the support and resources you need for a successful transition. We realize that getting to campus over the summer can be difficult, so we encourage you to register for the last session of summer occurring on August 23, 2023. This later session will coincide with our move-in weekend before classes begin.

Should you be in the states over the summer or wish to come to an earlier session, please feel free to attend the date that best aligns with your schedule.

Please click around below to ensure you have everything you need before your arrival.

During orientation, your student will break away for student sessions while families and guests hang back for informational sessions. You will have the opportunity to learn more about campus life, financial aid, and other services designed to help your student thrive during their first year. Feel free to go ahead and take some time to review and learn more about what’s available for your student below.

Orientation FAQs

Yes, all new first-year students are required to participate in Summer Orientation. Orientation is designed to assist you in completing the necessary steps prior to starting your first semester at Cumberlands.

You are able to make changes to your orientation reservation at any time. However, we ask that you notify us at least seven days in advance of your scheduled date. You can email whitney.baker [at] ucumberlands.edu (whitney[dot]baker[at]ucumberlands[dot]edu) or call 606-539-4240 to reschedule your orientation date. Please do not schedule more than one date without canceling the other.

Nope. No hidden fees, no fine print!

Since orientation is a required program for all new students, you cannot cancel session attendance unless you have decided not to attend Cumberlands. Please see the question "Can I make changes to my Orientation registration?" for instructions on how to make changes to the date of your orientation session.

Family and guest attendance is optional but encouraged. The Family Sessions will provide resources and contacts that will aid in student success at University of the Cumberlands. There are no additional costs or fees for family and guests to attend orientation.

All new, incoming students will have a registration hold on their account for the first semester to encourage students to work with a Student Success Coordinator on their schedule. The registration hold will be removed after your first semester.

You should submit your final, official transcript(s) as soon as possible.

If you are a domestic high school student, ask your school counselor to submit your final transcript electronically via email to admissions [at] ucumberlands.edu (admissions[at]ucumberlands[dot]edu) or through Parchment. If you are a transfer student, please contact the Registrar’s Office at your previous institution or submit an online request. For international students, please click here for additional information.

If you have taken dual credit or dual enrollment courses during high school, you will also need to submit an official transcript from the institution you took your coursework at. Students can still register for orientation without an official transcript, and your Student Success Coordinator can still work with you to plan out your course selections. However, we cannot post course credit without the final transcript on file.

You can also mail any official, final documents to the Office of Admissions:

Yes. You should have all official scores sent to the university as soon as possible.

Students can still register for orientation if their test scores are pending, and your Student Success Coordinator can still work with you to plan out your course selections. However, we cannot post course credit without the official scores on file.
