This course is the introductory course in the school counseling program and provides a basic introduction to school counseling at the K-12 level. This course is designed to give students an overview of current trends in school counseling, on both a local and national level. Topics to be covered include: Historical basis for school counseling, assessing school guidance needs, and 49 planning, implementing, and evaluating a guidance program based on the National School model. This course is a prerequisite for ALL other counseling courses. (Field Experience Required) 3 semester hours.
