NURS110. Fundamental Nursing I

During this course the nursing process is introduced as a method of problem solving and foundation for the delivery of safe patient care. The course introduces the collection and organization of client/patient data related to nursing care responsibilities. Students will also learn basic information about the family unit and family dynamics, problems that may occur within the family, and basic gerontologic concepts related to care of the aging client. The course is designed to introduce students the following concepts: Quality and Safety for Nurses (QSEN Initiative, incorporating patient centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence based practice, safety, quality improvement, informatics, the nursing process, and categories of patient needs. Pre-requisite: Admission to the Nursing program. Co-requisite: NURS 112 Fundamental Nursing Application I (3 hours)
