At this point you will be working with the Graduate Advising Center (GAC) to make sure you are on track. UC offers a variety of programs in Education so all of the requirements do not apply to everyone. It is important to review your specific Plan Program/Curriculum Contract to know what is required of you.
GAC has provided you with a list of items you are required to have turned in by the time you complete your program. The list can be seen on your MyUC account located under the “Student Tab”. The list appears in red and will show the item(s) are past due. Please do not be alarmed when you see this, it is a computer glitch and you need not worry. We are simply letting you know what is still needed from you at this point, as well as, what will be required of you to complete the program. It is our hope that you will have a smooth transition when you exit your program.
Disposition Survey
The disposition surveys are required by everyone in the Education Program and are necessary for your continuous assessment throughout the program. If you recall when you were admitted into the program you were asked to provide UC with three letters of recommendation as an entrance requirement. There are two instructor disposition surveys required when you reach your mid-point. This will help us determine how you are doing at this point in your program.
Disposition Surveys are completed in the SOE Assessment Portal. You may copy/paste the link below and send it to your professor requesting him/her to complete a disposition form for you:

Comprehensive Exam
The comprehensive exam is for candidates completing the Masters of Arts in Education, Rank I or a 30 hour Administrative Certification program as well as the Educational Specialist degree. MAT candidates who already hold a teaching license will also take this exam.
The comprehensive exam is designed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to integrate knowledge, demonstrate critical and independent thinking skills, as well as mastery of the field.
The exam is offered once each semester and should be taken toward the end of your program. Candidates applying for the comprehensive exam must submit the application the semester prior to completing their program. Applications should be sent to Kathy Cox
If you are unable to come to campus to take the exam then you will be allowed to have someone proctor your exam. The proctor should be a professional individual who is willing to administer the exam as well as follow the guidelines for the exam.
Application for Graduation
Candidates seeking a degree must apply for graduation. If you are in a non-degree seeking program then you will not need to apply for graduation. Applications for graduation must be completed the semester prior to completing. For more information on specific deadlines please refer to the Graduate Education Handbook. Please click here to fill out your application and other requirements.
Application for Student Teaching/Practicum
Candidates seeking initial licensure and not currently teaching are required to do Student Teaching. Candidates seeking initial licensure who are currently teaching with a Temporary Provisional License will do the Practicum instead. Applications for both must be submitted the semester prior to enrollment in Student Teaching/Practicum. For example, if you plan to do Student Teaching or Practicum in the fall semester, you will need to apply by January 31st and if you plan to do Student Teaching or Practicum in the spring you must apply by July 31th.
Once the application has been received the Certification Officer will process the application and register eligible candidates for the course. If for some reason you are not eligible to enroll in the course, you will be notified by the Certification Officer. Both applications are to be submitted to UC’s Certification Officer, Lisa Jones.
Application for Administrative Practicum
Candidates seeking advanced licensure must apply for the Administrative Practicum. The application must be submitted the semester prior to enrollment in the Practicum course. For more information on specific deadlines please refer to the Graduate Education Handbook. Once the application has been received the Certification Officer will process the application and register eligible candidates for the course.
