Dr. Deaton currently serves as the Executive Director of Faculty Development at the University of the Cumberlands, where she directs the Faculty Mentoring Program and supports faculty development across the institution. She earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in 2018 and has taught in the School of Education for more than a decade.
Dr. Deaton joined the University full-time after completing her master’s degree through the University of the Cumberlands. Prior to entering higher education, she began her career as a middle school mathematics teacher at South Laurel Middle School in Laurel County. Throughout her career, she has provided professional development for educators in engaging instructional strategies and educational technology at both the local and national levels. She has presented on instructional strategies, educational technology, and educator development at professional conferences and organizations including the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE), the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), and the PIMSER International Conference.
Dr. Deaton resides in Corbin with her husband and three daughters.
