LoriAnn Stretch is an LCMHC-Supervisor (NC), Licensed Professional Counselor (VA), National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, and Board Certified Telemental Health Provider. She is the President and conference co-chair for the Association for Creativity in Counseling and recipient of the Thelma Duffey Vision and Innovation Award (2021). Dr. Stretch was also recognized by the Nu Sigma Chi chapter of CSI as their 2019 Distinguished Alumni. She is actively engaged with the American Multicultural Counseling and Development Association (AMCD, International Concerns Group); Association of Counseling Sexology & Sexual Wellness (ACSSW); Chi Sigma Iota (CSI); Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES); and Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE).
Previously, she has volunteered at the ACA conference, served on the ACA Ethics Appeal Panel, presented at numerous ACA conferences, taught several invited pre-conference learning institutes, and served on the Cyber Taskforce. Dr. Stretch has served as the Chair, Ethics Chair, and Treasurer for the NC Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. She is a CACREP Team Chair and a CACREP consultant. Dr. Stretch recently co-edited the National Counselor and Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam Review: A Guide to Success with Springer Publishing. She has served as a clinical director of a multidisciplinary mental health agency, taught at several state and private universities, and practiced counseling for over 25 years. Dr. Stretch specializes in experiential therapies, global counseling, trauma recovery and stabilization, sexually marginalized populations, telehealth, and supervision. As a parental trans ally, she dedicates a significant portion of her advocacy work on securing and maintaining legal rights for transgender youth and adults. Dr. Stretch enjoys reading, creating stained glass art, and renovating homes.
