Dr. Sims is currently the principal of Southern Pulaski Middle School, the 10th largest middle school in Kentucky.  Prior to being the head principal, Dr. Sims was an assistant principal at SPMS for two years.  Preceding his tenure as an administrator, Dr. Sims was an ELA middle grades teacher in the Lincoln and Pulaski school districts, accumulating over 20 years of educational experience in the middle grades.  Professionally, Dr. Sims’s areas of interest are in educational leadership, teacher development, school climate and culture, and teacher recruitment and development.  As an active member of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA), Dr. Sims was recently elected to the KASA Executive Board of Directors as the Middle Grades Administrators’ Representative, where he represents all of the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s middle school administrators on the KASA Board.  His doctoral research was in the field of vocabulary, and he is currently working on a series of instructional books for middle school ELA teachers in vocabulary instructional strategies and techniques.  At home, Dr. Sims enjoys spending time with his family, church activities, as well as being an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction novels.
