Benefits and Risks of Enrolling in Dual Credit Coursework

The Dual Credit program at UC allows students to take courses that earn credit for both their high school and University of the Cumberlands. Although dual credit students are still high school students, enrolling in dual credit courses means you are concurrently a college student at University of the Cumberlands.

There are many benefits associated with dual credit. One of the biggest benefits of dual credit is the unique opportunity to get a head start on your college education and professional career. Enrolling in dual credit courses can save you time and money. However, the grades earned in these courses are permanent. An undesirable grade or a “withdraw” will remain on your college transcript. It is the student’s obligation to access one’s grades once they are posted. If the student feels a grade is inaccurate or unfair, the student should take this matter to Academic Affairs.
