Cumberlands students on the site of a MO home build

Mountain Outreach is dedicated to providing high quality, cost effective housing for low income families within our community.  To maximize this effort, the program has elected to complete two (2) houses during each fiscal year. Mountain Outreach plans to eliminate the application acceptance deadline restriction to allow year-round submissions. Applicants should display a clear need for housing. Mountain Outreach supports a nondiscriminatory policy on family selections.

All applicants will be seriously considered based on the following criteria:

  • Level of need
  • Ability to repay mortgage
  • Willingness to “give back” to the program through community service
  • Willingness to attend a set number of general maintenance skills-building classes sponsored by MO within the first 12 months of ownership
  • Mountain Outreach is looking for the highest impact with longevity of investment
  • Will shift focus to young families with 0-4 children
  • Senior applicants may still be selected based on level of need and ability to meet recipient requirements
  • MO will develop a relationship with the Housing Authority in a continued effort to assist any home applicant that does not meet the established requirements
  • MO will develop a relationship with local agencies to provided additional assistance to those in need
