Dr. Lauren Wiedemer is a Kentucky native whose career reflects a deep commitment to performance, teaching, and mentorship. She is an active soloist and collaborative musician, performing with orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber groups, and flute ensembles throughout the region and around the world. 

In her teaching, Dr. Wiedemer is dedicated to developing students as complete musicians. She emphasizes strong fundamentals of flute performance alongside music theory, history, chamber music, and intentional listening. Central to her approach is a focus on musician wellness, incorporating principles from Alexander Technique and Body Mapping to encourage efficient, healthy, and sustainable approaches to playing. Students in her studio are encouraged to develop curiosity, confidence, and ownership of their musical growth.

Dr. Wiedemer serves as the Instructor of Flute at the University of the Cumberlands, where she also teaches music appreciation courses. She is a member of the National Flute Association and an active board member of the Flute Society of Kentucky. Through teaching, performance, and mentorship, Dr. Wiedemer is committed to helping students build strong musicianship, confidence, and a lifelong engagement with music.
