Next up for the UC Book Club is What We Can Know by Ian McEwan on April 22 at 4:30 via Google Meet. This novel is a mashup of a variety of genres as it celebrates words in all uses including a lost 2014 poem. In 2119 a scholar seeks the poem and the free-wheeling American spirit that marked the early 21st century (that's us!). Commentary from sources as varied as The Financial Times and The Times Literary Supplement praise the novel. Is it "'a rage against our consensus of decline . . . [and] a cautionary tale of unchecked nostalgia?'" Read the novel, decide what you think, and than join us in April.

And looking ahead to May, the UC Book Club will discuss Stone Yard Devotional by Charlotte Wood.
