Amanda Moose, MSN, RN, CHSE, is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and Clinical Innovation at the University of the Cumberlands. Her primary focus is teaching in the online RN-to-BSN program, where she is dedicated to helping registered nurses advance their education through engaging, evidence-based instruction. She also contributes to simulation initiatives that strengthen clinical reasoning and bridge theory with practice.
Moose brings more than 15 years of experience in nursing education and critical care. Before transitioning to academia, she practiced as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse, providing care for critically ill patients and developing the clinical expertise that continues to inform her teaching today. Prior to joining the University of the Cumberlands, she served as Nursing Faculty and Simulation Chair at Mitchell Community College, where she led the college's simulation program, mentored faculty, developed innovative learning experiences, and collaborated with interdisciplinary healthcare partners to enhance student success. Her areas of expertise include online nursing education, curriculum development, simulation-based learning, debriefing, clinical judgment, and educational technology.
A Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), Moose was recognized as the 2025 North Carolina Associate Degree Nursing Council Educator of the Year. She also received First Place at the 2023 North Carolina Associate Degree Nursing Council Conference for her poster, Simulation to Increase Clinical Proficiency and Self-Efficacy: A Systematic Review, and has presented at regional nursing conferences on simulation best practices and innovative teaching strategies.
