Dawn M. Allen is a special education professional with expertise in transition planning, IEP development, and instructional leadership. Her work focuses on helping educators design meaningful transition services that support students with disabilities in achieving successful outcomes beyond high school.

Allen serves as a Special Education Supervisor of Instruction for Corbin Independent Schools and as an assistant professor at the University of the Cumberlands. With over 30 years of experience across K–12 settings, she has supported students, teachers, and school systems through roles in the classroom, intervention, and district leadership. She regularly leads professional development in IEP development, transition planning, and instructional practices that improve student outcomes.

She has been recognized for her impact through the Corbin Schools Impact Award, “Difference Maker” recognition, and as a top three state finalist for Special Education Teacher of the Year. She is an active member of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Kentucky Association of Professional Educators.

Allen lives in Corbin, Kentucky, and enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and playing pickleball with her family.
