Amy E. Osborne, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor and Methodologist in the Leadership Studies Department, where she supports students through instruction and mentoring in quantitative research methods, research design, and statistical analysis. Dr. Osborne holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on the intersection of cognitive psychology and educational theory, an M.S. in Mathematics with an emphasis in statistics, and an M.S. in Psychology with a concentration in cognition and instruction. She brings extensive experience as a quantitative methodologist and statistical consultant, supporting program evaluation, equity studies, institutional assessment, and applied research across higher education and nonprofit settings.

She has more than two decades of experience in higher education and has taught a broad range of courses in statistics, research methodologies, quantitative reasoning, mathematics, and psychology across online, hybrid, and face-to-face modalities. Her areas of expertise include quantitative and mixed-methods research; cognitive and affective variables influencing learning and engagement; metacognition and the learning sciences; and promoting access, success, and inclusive instructional design for first-generation, underprepared, and underrepresented students.
Dr. Osborne’s scholarship focuses on evidence-based pedagogy and student success for underprepared and underserved populations in higher education, particularly in postsecondary mathematics. Her work includes peer-reviewed publications, most recently Mathematics Success During the Pandemic: Findings and Future Implications (MathAMATYC Educator, 2025), and co-editorship of Pedagogies of Compassion and Care in Education (IGI Global, 2025).  She regularly presents at regional and national conferences focused on student success, mathematics education, and applied research. Her research interests include cognitive and affective factors in learning, success in postsecondary mathematics for first-generation and underrepresented students, learning loss and the COVID-19 pandemic, and metacognitive self-awareness.

In addition to her educational research, Dr. Osborne maintains an active creative practice at the intersection of mathematics and visual art. Work from her most recent series, Radical Axis v.8, was accepted for exhibition at the 2026 Bridges Exhibition of Mathematical Art, Craft, and Design, draws on the traces of daily ritual to explore geometric relationships and mathematical structures, revealing patterns of order, rhythm, and logic within ordinary experience. Her broader body of conceptual work invites viewers to discover the beauty and complexity embedded in everyday acts and has been exhibited in media including glass, paper, fabric, and mixed media.

Outside of academia, Dr. Osborne enjoys spending time with family, cooking, working on her homestead, and engaging in creative pursuits.
