Dr. Franklin Brian Thomas is an experienced educator with 30 years in K–12 education and six years in higher education. Before joining the University of the Cumberlands, he served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles, working with students, teachers, and school communities to support learning and growth. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to helping others succeed and to contributing in meaningful ways to the field of education. He launched and served as the founding editor of the Journal of Advances in Education, a platform for sharing research and practical insights in education. Dr. Thomas is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Kentucky Colonels, affiliations that reflect both his academic background and his interest in service. While he values these honors, he places greater importance on the relationships he has built and the opportunities he has had to work alongside colleagues and students over the years. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with his family. He is married, has two grown children, and one granddaughter. He and his family also share their home with two
