Dr. Virginia “Ginnie” West began her career in education as a special education teacher in Williamsburg, Kentucky. In that position, she worked with students identified with multiple disabilities in the areas of behavior, reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.

After five years as a P12 Special Education teacher, Dr. West moved to higher education as an Assistant Professor at UC in 2014. Dr. West received her Doctorate of Education in December of 2014. Dr. West currently works with local P12 schools to strategically place teacher candidates for their undergraduate clinical observations. Dr. West teaches pre-service special educators as well as educational technology.

Special Education is a professional and personal passion for Dr. West. Dr. West believes all children deserve equal time in the classroom regardless of their ability allowing them to reach their full potential.
