Dr. Katherine (Katie) Watson is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Cumberlands. Prior to joining the faculty full time, she provided psychotherapy to adults in private practice following completion of her APA-accredited predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Austin, TX. Dr. Watson's clinical experience includes the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, women's mental health, reproductive and perinatal mental health, relationship concerns, and life transitions using evidence-based approaches.
Dr. Watson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Chapman University, her Master of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University, and her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, including her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from the University of San Francisco.
Her professional interests include trauma-informed care, psychotherapy, women's mental health, reproductive psychology, behavioral health education, and the integration of clinical practice with psychological research. She is passionate about preparing future psychologists through evidence-based teaching, clinical mentorship, and ethical practice.
When she is not grading students papers, you can find her with her family roaming the pacific coast beaches in Newport Beach, CA.
