Dr. Michael Dow's interests are academic research, academic coaching, travelling, and athletics. His current academic research focuses on determining which factors affect teacher retention in Middle and Upper Cumberland Kentucky Public school districts. 

Dr. Dow has professional experience as an adjunct professor for the Doctorate of Leadership and English Language Arts departments. He also works as an Instructional and Curriculum Coach for a public school, where he serves as the professional learning community organizer and facilitator, the head of high school data collection and interpretation, and assists educators in developing effective assessments and implementing engaging instructional strategies. He previously worked as the High School English Department Chair. 

Dr. Dow successfully defended his dissertation topic, "The Effect of Transformational Leadership on Teacher Retention in Middle and Upper Cumberland Kentucky Public School Districts," on March 11th, 2025.

His recent awards and recognitions include Outstanding Kentucky Educator Nominee (2024), recognition for student achievement of 88% proficient/ distinguished score rate on the Kentucky State Assessment On-Demand writing (ranked 10th in Kentucky) (2024), and recognition for student achievement of 86% proficient/ distinguished score rate on the Kentucky State Assessment On-Demand writing (ranked 12th in Kentucky) (2023).

Dr. Dow lives in Williamsburg, Ky, with his wife and two children. The most important things to him are God, family, and his students.
