Dr. Michael Verona is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling School at School of Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Verona’s research focuses on reducing the stigmatization of individuals diagnosed with mental health and substance use disorders. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC), and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). Dr. Verona is passionate about reducing societal prejudices and stereotypes associated with mental health and addiction. His clinical experience includes hospital-based detoxification and rehabilitation, state correctional counseling, and individual outpatient counseling. Dr. Verona currently lives in Michigan with his wife, two of their 7 children, and two cats, Kate and Leo.
