Sola Kippers is an Assistant Professor and core faculty member in the Counseling Department at the University of the Cumberlands. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Board Approved Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Marriage and Family therapist (LMFT), and Board approved Telehealth provider in Louisiana. She has worked in the field of mental health counseling for over 10 years where she has served in a variety of clinical settings (outpatient, intensive outpatient, residential, and private practice). Dr. Kippers has provided counseling for individuals who present symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, substance use disorders, and couples who seek therapy for marital conflict. Dr. Kippers is a counselor educator and supervisor with 24 years of experience teaching and supervising master’s and doctoral students in the United States, and master’s students in Canada.
Dr. Kippers’ scholarly activities focus on clinical supervision, private practice management, and boundary issues in counseling. She has given over 30 presentations at national, regional, and state counseling conferences; co-authored four publications related to diagnosis and treatment, countertransference, retention predictors in substance abuse IOP programs; and book co-editor on the topic of transformative learning in relationships.
Dr. Kippers’ service to the counseling field includes past Executive Board membership with the Louisiana Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (LACES), Louisiana LCA PAC Silent Auction Committee; Louisiana Association for Addictions & Offender Counseling Executive Board; President, Chi Sigma Iota, Alpha Eta Chapter; and Chair, Graduate Student Activities Committee for the 1999 ACES Convention. At the 2019 Louisiana Counseling Association Conference, she was awarded the Senior Counselor Educator Award by the Louisiana Association of Counseling Education and Supervision. She currently serves as Secretary, Louisiana Association of Marriage and Family Counselors.
Dr. Kippers was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has lived over two decades in New Orleans, and currently resides in a small town north of Baton Rouge with her chihuahua “Pepe.” Her leisure activities include enjoying great Louisiana food and music, gatherings with friends and family, and antiquing.
