Dr. Theresa Westgård is an occupational therapist with more than 30 years of international clinical, academic, and research experience. Her expertise includes adult rehabilitation, hand therapy, community health, and geriatrics. While practicing in Sweden, she served as a senior occupational therapist and researcher in the Orthogeriatric Department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. She later joined the University of Gothenburg and the Centre for Ageing and Health (AgeCap), where her research focused on geriatrics, frailty, person-centered care, and healthy aging. She has published extensively and presented her work at international conferences.
As an educator and academic leader, Dr. Westgård is dedicated to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals through teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and interprofessional education. Her scholarly interests include leadership, healthcare advocacy, and academic program development, with a focus on improving care for older adults. Outside of work, she is involved in philanthropic efforts supporting underserved communities and enjoys golfing and traveling with her husband.
