Dr. William “BJ” Temple serves as Director of Corporate Philanthropy at the University of the Cumberlands, leading corporate partnerships and engagement efforts that support the long-term growth of the university.
He has served UC for 25 years in a variety of roles, including 15 years as Assistant Track and Field Coach, 10 years as a full-time Professor in Health, Exercise and Sport Science, and 10 years as Assistant Athletic Director overseeing sponsorships and professional development.
During his coaching career, Temple recruited and coached 89 NAIA All-Americans and 14 NAIA National Champions, while helping establish numerous school records. He was inducted into the UC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018.
What has remained consistent across every role is his passion for building strong relationships and helping people reach their full potential. Whether working with student-athletes, students in the classroom, colleagues, or corporate partners, Temple believes growth happens when trust is built and people are developed intentionally. He is a Certified DISC Behavioral Consultant and holds USA Track and Field Level I and II certifications.
His work today focuses on connecting businesses and community partners with meaningful opportunities to invest in students and the future of the university.
