As an NATA Certified and Kentucky State Licensed Athletic Trainer, Ms. Peggy Haus has served UC in the capacity of Athletic Trainer since 1990, and Head Athletic Trainer since 1991. Serving dual roles as a sports medicine professional and adjunct faculty instructor has allowed Ms. Haus to interact with a broad spectrum of students on the UC campus, which she has always found stimulating and joyful. As an American Red Cross Instructor, Ms. Haus helps UC students obtain their ARC Lay Responder Certification, watching them develop confidence to respond to the unexpected, and provide the most important type of community service…the ability to save a life. Teaching courses like First Aid and Safety, Kinesiology and Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries, provide Ms. Haus with an avenue to share the expertise she employs actively on a daily basis, and she finds nothing more satisfying than seeing a student finally make the connection between knowledge learned and how to make a practical application. As Ms Haus is required to participate in continuing education in order to maintain her professional credential, she seeks out learning opportunities that will enhance what is taught in the classroom, as well as assisting her athletes. Ms. Haus and her family enjoy hiking at the Cumberland Falls and spoiling their two cats, and Peggy loves to read, solve puzzles and knit when time allows.
