The UC Book Club will next meet on Wednesday, July 1st, at 4:30 via Google Meet to discuss the increasingly popular Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. A stranger named Theo suddenly appears in Golden, GA, and in a quiet, gentle, even mysterious way starts buying coffee shop portraits and listening to people's stories. The Washington Post comments on the novel's "soft-lit allegorical quality," and The New York Times calls it "a word-of-mouth smash hit." Maybe this book is on your TBR list for the summer. Or maybe you've already read it. No matter: read it again (or not), and join us on July 1st.
And coming up later in the summer: One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot by Marianne Cronin. Two women, one 17 and one 83, meet during an art therapy class at Glasgow Princess Royal Hospital. To pay tribute to their friendship, they decide to take on an ambitious project — 100 works of art to represent their entire century of life. Harper's Bazaar says the book "celebrates friendship, finds meaning in difficulty, and lets the reader explore dark places while always allowing for the possibility of light."
